Makah Recreation Permit Required for Recreational Activities
Don’t forget to purchase a Makah Recreation Permit. Permits are required for recreational activities and can be purchased locally in person at various locations or by using the online option below. Recreational activities include, but are not limited to sightseeing, hiking, backpacking, beach walks, swimming, surfing, picnicking, sports fishing, pleasure boating, kayaking, scuba diving and bird watching.
Purchase in person at these locations:
- Makah Marina – Open until 5:00 p.m.
- The Museum at the Makah Cultural and Research Center – Open until 5:00 p.m.
- Pat’s Place
- Makah Mini Mart – Business Hours: 7 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. daily
- Makah Tribal Center, Financial Services – Open Mon-Thurs, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
- Hobuck Beach Resort
- The Cape Resort

Makah Recreation Permit must be displayed in the window of your vehicle while enjoying the trails, beaches and other attractions. The details are posted on the permit. Currently, the pass is $20 per vehicle and is valid for the calendar year. Please respect the culture of the Makah Tribe and limit your activities to designated visitor facilities.
